The 115th Millrose Games, the most iconic indoor track & field event in the world, continues to take shape with the announcement of the Women’s 300m. This race will be highlighted by a rapidly emerging sprint superstar in Abby Steiner, who is already the NCAA indoor record holder in this event.
The one-and-a-half lap event will be one of the key attractions at the Millrose Games, scheduled for Saturday, February 11th at the New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory.
Among those challenging Steiner in this Millrose Games signature event will be Jenna Prandini, a World Champion and Olympic Silver medalist, and World Silver medalist Brittany Brown.
Steiner had a breakout campaign in 2022, propelling herself onto the shortlist of the best sprinters in the world. She completed her collegiate career at the University of Kentucky with four NCAA titles, setting the indoor American record and outdoor NCAA record in the 200m. She then lowered her personal best to win the USATF 200m championship, qualifying for the World Championships, where she would go on to place fifth globally. Steiner also ran on both of the victorious 4x100m and 4x400m relays for Team USA, winning a pair of gold medals on the international stage.
“I am beyond excited to be running at this historic meet for the first time in my professional career,” said Steiner. “I’m looking forward to the atmosphere, fans, and great competition that Millrose always provides!”
Steiner is also the NCAA indoor record holder in the less frequently run 300m distance, with her time of 35.80. The American record is held by Quanera Hayes at 35.71, and the world best of 35.45 in this event was set at the Millrose Games in 2018 by Shaunae Miller-Uibo. Both of these marks could come under serious threat at Millrose.
Prandini is a former three-time NCAA champion for the University of Oregon, as well as a two-time USATF champion. She is an Olympic Silver medalist on the 4x100m relay, and a World Champion in the same event, teaming up with Steiner in Eugene last summer to win the Gold medal over the heavily favored team from Jamaica.
Brown shocked the world by earning the Silver medal in the 200m at the 2019 World Championships in Doha. She has since proven this result to be no fluke, winning the 200m at the 2022 NACAC Championships.
Also in the women’s 300m field at the Millrose Games will be Cynthia Bolingo, a Silver medalist at the European Indoor Championships who holds six national records for Belgium.
As always, the Millrose Games will feature the absolute best athletes in the sport, including dozens of Olympians and world champions. Some of the big names already announced include Geordie Beamish, Cooper Teare, Josh Kerr, Katie Nageotte, Sandi Morris, Katerina Stefanidi, Ryan Crouser, and Joe Kovacs, with many more still to come.
The Millrose Games is a World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meet. With the highest-level competition at the youth, high school, collegiate, club, and professional levels, there is truly something for everyone at the Millrose Games.
