With just over a month to go before the 115th Millrose Games, the anticipation has continued to build for the most iconic indoor track & field event in the world. The Men’s 800m figures to be among the best races of the afternoon, as all eight men in the field will believe they have a chance to win this notoriously unpredictable event, where positioning and tactics will surely be key.

The 115th Millrose Games is scheduled for Saturday, February 11th at the world-famous Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory. The Men’s 800m field is as follows:

  • Bryce Hoppel is the reigning 800m National Champion indoors and outdoors, and a Bronze Medalist at the World Indoor Championships. He is also a Tokyo Olympian, the American record-holder in the indoor 1000m, and a two-time NCAA Champion while at the University of Kansas. Hoppel is the defending Millrose Games 800m winner.

  • Noah Kibet of Kenya is just 18 years old, and he is already the Silver Medalist at the World Indoor Championships. He is also the Bronze Medalist at the World Junior Championships.

  • Isaiah Harris placed second behind Hoppel at the most recent USATF Indoor Championships. He reached the final at the World Indoor Championships, and he was a two-time NCAA Champion while running at Penn State.

  • Kyle Langford is a four-time competitor at the outdoor World Championships, reaching the final and placing fourth in 2017. Competing for Great Britain, he is the 2018 Commonwealth Games Silver Medalist, and the winner at the 2015 European Junior Championships.

  • Jesus Tonatiu Lopez is the Mexican national record holder in the 800m, and a six-time national champion. He competed at the Tokyo Olympics, and he was the Gold Medalist at the 2017 World University Games.

  • Mark English is the Irish national record holder in the 800m, and a three-time Bronze Medalist at the European Championships.

  • Cade Flatt is the second-fastest U.S. high schooler in the history of the 800m. Now a freshman at Ole Miss, Flatt looks to continue ascending the ranks nationally.

Laura Muir Headlines Sensational Rudin Women’s Wanamaker Mile

New York City’s First Family of Running, The Rudin Family, to Sponsor the Wanamaker Miles

As the calendar turns to 2023, the 115th Millrose Games are just over a month away, scheduled for Saturday, February 11th at the Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory. As always, this legendary track & field meet will conclude with the running of the women’s and men’s Rudin Wanamaker Miles, the signature event of the Millrose Games boasting over a century of tradition.

The Millrose Games is extremely honored that the Rudin Family will be the sponsor of the Wanamaker Miles. Over the past one hundred years, the Rudin Family has become one of New York City’s largest private real estate companies and a generous supporter of running.  Jack and Lewis Rudin were the first sponsors of the TCS New York City Marathon, and their children and grandchildren have carried on the legacy, supporting the sport throughout the five boroughs.

“On behalf of the entire Rudin family, we are honored to welcome elite athletes from around the world who have come to New York to compete in the most prestigious mile in the United States,” said Bill Rudin, Co-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Rudin. “As a founding sponsor of the New York City Marathon, as well as previous Millrose events, running has long held a special place in our family’s heritage and is integral to the fabric of our great city. We wish the best to the athletes competing in the Rudin Wanamaker Miles and all of the other exciting Millrose Games events.”

This year’s women’s race promises to be absolutely thrilling with the inclusion of 1500m Olympic Silver Medalist Laura Muir, one of the most accomplished athletes competing in the world today.

Hailing from Scotland, Muir won her long-awaited Olympic silver medal in Tokyo, then backed it up with a bronze medal at this year’s World Championships. She is a six-time European Champion, two-time Diamond League Champion, and the 2022 Commonwealth Games Champion in the 1500m. In total, Muir holds six British records indoors and outdoors.

Muir blasted a 4:14.8 road mile last September at her most recent race in New York City, setting the course record for the 5th Avenue Mile. The Wanamaker Mile event record of 4:16.85 was set by Elinor Purrier St. Pierre in 2020. This mark is also the American Record and the second-fastest indoor mile in history.

“This will be my first time racing at the Millrose Games, so I am really excited as it has been a competition that I have wanted to do for a long time,” said Muir. “I have very fond memories of racing in the City, and I cannot wait to return and tackle the same distance indoors.”

As always, the Rudin Wanamaker Mile will feature a deep field of talented runners hungry for an upset victory. Athletes to watch for include:

  • Sinclaire Johnson, the 2022 USATF Champion in the 1500m, and a World Championship finalist.

  • Jemma Reekie, the fourth place finisher in the 800m at the most recent Olympics. She is the British record holder in the indoor mile, setting that mark in the historically fast 2020 Wanamaker Mile won by Purrier St. Pierre.

  • Josette Norris, a sub-four minute performer in the 1500m, and the third-place finisher in the same event at last year’s Diamond League Final.

  • Sage Hurta-Klecker, a former two-time NCAA Champion, and the third-place finisher in the 800m at the Diamond League final.

  • Nikki Hiltz, a 2019 World Championship finalist and Pan American Games Champion in the 1500m. They finished second behind Muir at the 5th Avenue Mile.

  • Medina Eisa of Ethiopia, just 18 years old and the reigning World Junior Champion over 5000m.

Rounding out the field is 800m star Allie Wilson, Canadian Champion Lucia Stafford, NCAA Champion Sintayehu Vissa of Italy, Portuguese Olympian Marta Pen Freitas, and NACAC Bronze Medalist Helen Schlachtenhaufen.

As always, the Millrose Games will feature the absolute best athletes in the sport, including dozens of Olympians and world champions. Some of the big names already announced include Christian Coleman, Noah Lyles, Alicia Monson, Konstanze Klosterhalfen, Abby Steiner, Jenna Prandini, Geordie Beamish, Cooper Teare, Josh Kerr, Katie Nageotte, Sandi Morris, Katerina Stefanidi, Ryan Crouser, and Joe Kovacs, with many more still to come.

Coleman, Lyles, and Baker Lead Titanic Sprint Showdown in the 60m

The 115th Millrose Games, the world’s most historic indoor track & field event is only six weeks away. The Men’s 60m will surely be one of the most anticipated races of the entire meet, as Christian Coleman, Noah Lyles, and Ronnie Baker, three of the best sprinters in the world, will be taking their talents to the infield straightaway at the iconic New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory.

The 115th Millrose Games is scheduled for Saturday, February 11th.

Coleman is the defending Millrose Games champion, World Record holder, and 2018 World Indoor Champion in the 60m. His lightning-quick starting ability makes him nearly unstoppable over this short distance, and he set the current world record of 6.34 seconds in 2018. Outdoors, he has two World Championship gold medals and three silver medals in the 100m and 4x100m relay.

Lyles is the reigning back-to-back World Champion, American Record holder, and the third-fastest man ever in the 200m. He also claimed the Olympic bronze medal in Tokyo. Lyles, the 2022 USATF Male Athlete of the Year, has been open about his pursuit of the world records held by Usain Bolt, and by dropping down in distance to challenge the short-sprint specialists, he hopes to continue improving his start and putting the pieces together for another year of dominance.

Baker is the third-fastest 60m runner in history, and one of the most consistent sprinters competing on the circuit. He is an Olympic finalist, World Indoor bronze medalist, and two-time NCAA champion. Baker is no stranger to the Millrose Games stage, winning the 60m in both 2018 and 2020.

Other athletes in the field include:

  • Josephus Lyles, Noah’s younger brother. Lyles is a former World Junior Champion, and he placed fifth in the 200m final at this year’s USATF Outdoor Championships.

  • Ackeem Blake of Jamaica, NACAC 100m Champion, and semifinalist at the World Championships.

  • Miles Lewis, the 60m national record holder for Puerto Rico.

As always, the Millrose Games will feature the absolute best athletes in the sport, including dozens of Olympians and world champions. Some of the big names already announced include Alicia Monson, Konstanze Klosterhalfen, Abby Steiner, Jenna Prandini, Geordie Beamish, Cooper Teare, Josh Kerr, Katie Nageotte, Sandi Morris, Katerina Stefanidi, Ryan Crouser, and Joe Kovacs, with many more still to come.

Defending Champion Alicia Monson and World Bronze Medalist Konstanze Klosterhalfen Headline Terrific Women’s 3000m

Photos by Ross Dettman

Anticipation continues to build for the 115th Millrose Games, the most historic indoor track & field event in the world. Adding to the excitement is the announcement of the Women’s 3000m, which will feature Alicia Monson, looking to defend her title against European Champion Konstanze Klosterhalfen in a field that also includes Katelyn Tuohy, the top collegiate distance runner in the nation.

The 115th Millrose Games is scheduled for Saturday, February 11th at the famous New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory.

Monson ran away from the field in 2022, setting a new Millrose Games and Armory facility record of 8:31.62. This performance was a springboard to more success for Monson, an Olympian and NCAA champion at the University of Wisconsin. She had the best season of her career outdoors, running personal bests at 3000m, 5000m, and 10000m, competing in the World Championship final, and placing in the top five at numerous Diamond League meetings, moving up to third on the all-time U.S. 5000m list.

“Last year's Millrose Games was an electric moment for the On Athletics Club with three wins, all while debuting our new spikes,” said Monson, referring to herself and her teammates Ollie Hoare and Geordie Beamish. “I’m looking forward to coming back to defend the 3000m this year! The atmosphere in The Armory makes for an awesome start to the track season, and it’ll also be special to have my teammates back defending last year’s wins.”

The American Record of 8:25.70 held by Karissa Schweizer could be in jeopardy with the talent assembled in the field.

The main challenger may be Klosterhalfen, European champion and 2019 World Championship bronze medalist in the 5000m. Klosterhalfen holds eight national records for Germany, and she won the 2019 Wanamaker Mile at the Millrose Games. Her outdoor personal best in the 3000m is 8:20.07, tenth fastest in history and the fastest in the field.

Other athletes to watch include a trio of former NCAA Champions in Elly Henes, Courtney Wayment, and Whittni Orton Morgan. Wayment and Morgan were teammates at BYU. A sleeper in the field could be the young Ethiopian Fantaye Belaynah, national champion and African Championships silver medalist in the 5000m.

Tuohy has been a phenom since her days at North Rockland HS, winning three national cross country championships and setting all sorts of records on the track. Now a two-time individual NCAA champion after leading North Carolina State to a team cross country title last month, Tuohy will return to The Armory for the first time since high school to test herself against a field of top professionals.

As always, the Millrose Games will feature the absolute best athletes in the sport, including dozens of Olympians and world champions. Some of the big names already announced include Abby Steiner, Jenna Prandini, Geordie Beamish, Cooper Teare, Josh Kerr, Katie Nageotte, Sandi Morris, Katerina Stefanidi, Ryan Crouser, and Joe Kovacs, with many more still to come.

American Record Holder Abby Steiner Leads the Field in the Women’s 300m, Will Face Prandini and Brown at 115th Millrose Games February 11th at The Armory

The 115th Millrose Games, the most iconic indoor track & field event in the world, continues to take shape with the announcement of the Women’s 300m. This race will be highlighted by a rapidly emerging sprint superstar in Abby Steiner, who is already the NCAA indoor record holder in this event.

The one-and-a-half lap event will be one of the key attractions at the Millrose Games, scheduled for Saturday, February 11th at the New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory.

Among those challenging Steiner in this Millrose Games signature event will be Jenna Prandini, a World Champion and Olympic Silver medalist, and World Silver medalist Brittany Brown.

Steiner had a breakout campaign in 2022, propelling herself onto the shortlist of the best sprinters in the world. She completed her collegiate career at the University of Kentucky with four NCAA titles, setting the indoor American record and outdoor NCAA record in the 200m. She then lowered her personal best to win the USATF 200m championship, qualifying for the World Championships, where she would go on to place fifth globally. Steiner also ran on both of the victorious 4x100m and 4x400m relays for Team USA, winning a pair of gold medals on the international stage.

“I am beyond excited to be running at this historic meet for the first time in my professional career,” said Steiner. “I’m looking forward to the atmosphere, fans, and great competition that Millrose always provides!”

Steiner is also the NCAA indoor record holder in the less frequently run 300m distance, with her time of 35.80. The American record is held by Quanera Hayes at 35.71, and the world best of 35.45 in this event was set at the Millrose Games in 2018 by Shaunae Miller-Uibo. Both of these marks could come under serious threat at Millrose.

Prandini is a former three-time NCAA champion for the University of Oregon, as well as a two-time USATF champion. She is an Olympic Silver medalist on the 4x100m relay, and a World Champion in the same event, teaming up with Steiner in Eugene last summer to win the Gold medal over the heavily favored team from Jamaica.

Brown shocked the world by earning the Silver medal in the 200m at the 2019 World Championships in Doha. She has since proven this result to be no fluke, winning the 200m at the 2022 NACAC Championships.

Also in the women’s 300m field at the Millrose Games will be Cynthia Bolingo, a Silver medalist at the European Indoor Championships who holds six national records for Belgium.

As always, the Millrose Games will feature the absolute best athletes in the sport, including dozens of Olympians and world champions. Some of the big names already announced include Geordie Beamish, Cooper Teare, Josh Kerr, Katie Nageotte, Sandi Morris, Katerina Stefanidi, Ryan Crouser, and Joe Kovacs, with many more still to come.

Beamish, Teare, and Kerr Highlight Stellar Men's 3000m at 115th Millrose Games Feb. 11 at The Armory

Photos by Ross Dettman

The 115th Millrose Games, the most historic indoor track & field event in the world, will welcome a stacked field in the Men’s 3000m, led by defending champion Geordie Beamish.

The 3000m is the longest race of the afternoon, and it also figures to be one of the most competitive events at the Millrose Games. The meet is scheduled for Saturday, February 11th at the iconic New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory.

Beamish, who is the New Zealand record holder in the indoor 3000m and 5000m, won last year’s race in thrilling fashion, going from fifth to first on the final lap with a furious kick to win in 7:39.50.

Coming in second place in last year’s Millrose Games was Cooper Teare, a former NCAA champion at the University of Oregon. Teare will return to the Millrose stage with revenge on his mind, after becoming the U.S. national champion in the 1500m last summer.

“I’m beyond excited to be returning to the Millrose Games to experience the electric crowds and fast times!” said Teare.

While the rematch of last year’s tight finish is enticing enough, there are numerous other athletes who are more than capable of winning this race. Contenders to watch for include:

  • Josh Kerr, Olympic bronze medalist for Great Britain in the 1500m. Kerr is the European indoor mile record holder, and was the runner-up in last year’s legendary Wanamaker Mile at The Armory.

  • Luis Grijalva, who holds eight national records for Guatemala, and reached the 5000m final at the Tokyo Olympics. Grijalva finished fourth in the 5000m at last summer’s World Championships.

  • Nico Young, a standout runner at Northern Arizona University, who recently finished second at this year’s NCAA Cross Country Championships. In 2020, Young set the national high school 3000m record at the Millrose Games, running 7:56.91.

  • Joe Klecker, defending national champion and Olympian in the 10,000m, as well as a former two-time NCAA champion at the University of Colorado.

  • Morgan McDonald, a former four-time NCAA champion at the University of Wisconsin, and an Olympian in the 5000m representing Australia.

  • Olin Hacker and Dylan Jacobs, defending NCAA champions in the 5000m and 10,000m, respectively.

As always, the Millrose Games will feature the absolute best athletes in the sport, including dozens of Olympians and world champions. Already announced are a pair of heavyweight showdowns in the pole vault with Katie Nageotte, Sandi Morris, and Katerina Stefanidi, and in the shot put, featuring Ryan Crouser and Joe Kovacs.

The Millrose Games is a World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meet. With the highest-level competition at the youth, high school, collegiate, club, and professional levels, there is truly something for everyone at the Millrose Games.
